PICK CLOUD, INC. ANNOUNCES NEW LOWER MINIMUM PRICE FOR OPENQM DBAAS

Newport Beach, CA, March 6, 2017 – Pick Cloud, Inc. the first MultiValue Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) provider, specializing in both public and private cloud solutions, today announced a new lower minimum price for its OpenQM MultiValue DBaaS (database-as-a-service) product.

“It is now easier than ever for MultiValue customers to enter the cloud. We have reduced our minimum for OpenQM DBaaS from $269 per month to $199 per month. This includes an OpenQM license, AccuTerm and the entire infrastructure necessary for a fully managed hosted environment. All the client needs is an Internet connection. No more purchasing hardware. Partnering with Google has allowed us to lower our prices and pass the savings onto MultiValue clients. So in addition to a lower minimum, clients also get Google’s world class security and infrastructure.

Pick Cloud, Inc. Launches Short Term Server Leasing For As Low As $15 Per Server Per Day - November 14, 2014

PICK CLOUD, INC. LAUNCHES SHORT TERM SERVER LEASING FOR AS LOW AS $15 PER SERVER PER DAY

Newport Beach, CA, November 14, 2014 – Pick Cloud, Inc. the first MultiValue Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) provider, specializing in both public and private cloud solutions, has introduced short-term server leasing as part of their cloud suite of offerings.  No long-term commitments or long-term contracts are required.

According to Mark Pick, CEO and founder of Pick Cloud, Inc. “There is now a cost effective alternative for MultiValue application providers and users to spending a lot of time and money to configure, purchase and set up a server on premise for short-term use. This server usually ends up sitting idle for the rest of the year, depreciating as it does so. With a short-term option for short-term projects you can afford the technology you need without exhausting your cash flow or lines of credit. For as low as $15 per day you get enterprise grade servers and equipment.” He also states, “We offer a complete solution with the capability to print securely via the cloud with a product called CirrusPrint, from our valued partners at Synergetic Data Systems, Inc. This makes for an ideal, cost effective, testing and development environment.”

Scenarios for short-term leasing:

• Evaluations and proof of concepts

• Consolidation and migration

• As a temporary replacement for a server that is briefly out of commission for repairs or diagnostics so you do not lose information or business.

• Minimize the impact of application changes, software testing or upgrades to avoid compromising production systems.

• For disaster recovery - ensure business continuity and rent temporary servers to recover from, flood, fire or theft.

• And more!

You can get real time deployments with short-term commitments. Your cloud - without compromise. For more information regarding short-term server leasing, please click here.

Pick Cloud and Ladybridge Systems to Present Webinar Series - May 28, 2014

PICK CLOUD AND LADYBRIDGE SYSTEMS TO PRESENT WEBINAR SERIES

Newport Beach, CA, May 28, 2014 - Mark Pick, CEO of Pick Cloud, and Martin Phillips, technical director of Ladybridge Systems, are presenting a series of webinars to spotlight new features of OpenQM that help to keep MultiValue in step with emerging technologies.

Pick Cloud is a MultiValue database-as-a-service (DBaaS) provider specializing in both public and private cloud solutions, and Ladybridge Systems is the developer of the OpenQM MultiValue database.

New OpenQM features to be showcased in the webinars include exception handling, which the company says, provides a powerful way in which to handle error conditions and other events in applications, avoiding the need for cascading status codes back through multiple layers of program modules.

In addition, the webinar will introduce the concept of data collections that use extensions to the familiar MultiValue environment to store and manipulate arbitrarily multi-dimensional data. Data representations such as JSON and XML have the ability to well beyond the three dimensions supported by the MultiValue data model, and processing this data efficiently can present challenges when needing to parse or update large multi-dimensional data items.

According to the companies, the availability of these features eases the transition for developers who are new to MultiValue, and have a background in programming languages such as C# or Java that are built around these concepts.

The first webinar of the series – “Introduction to OpenQM – A Tour of Benefits and Features” was held May 21, 2014. The webinar provided an overview of the features and benefits of the latest release of OpenQM and also featured OpenQM’s database as a service (DBaaS) component. A replay is available on Pick Cloud Inc.’s website and can be found here.

Pick Cloud, Inc. Named to DBTA 100: The Companies That Matter Most in Data via DBTA , June 26, 2013

DBTA 100: THE COMPANIES THAT MATTER MOST IN DATA.

Database Trends and Applications introduces the inaugural “DBTA 100,” a list of the companies that matter most in data. The past several years have transformed enterprise information management, creating challenges and opportunities for companies seeking to extract value from a sea of data assets. In response to this, established IT vendors as well as legions of newer solution providers have rushed to create the tools to do just that.

Regulatory mandates that specify the way information is captured and protected and how long it must be retained have caused companies to amass data at levels thought unimaginable in the past. Compounding this trend is the data pouring from machines, the web, and social media.

The extent to which data is growing was underscored by a 2011 survey conducted by Unisphere Research and sponsored by Oracle among 611 members of the Independent Oracle Users Group. The survey found that for close to 1 out of 10 respondents, the total amount of online (disk-resident) data they manage—taking into account all clones, snapshots, replicas, and backups—topped a petabyte. The same study found that more than one-third of respondents’ companies are storing data in their systems for more than 7 years due to either their company’s own policies or external compliance mandates, and 12% say they just hold on to their data … indefinitely.

The phenomenon that has resulted from the ensuing variety, velocity, and volume of information is called “big data.” And while that term is overused, it is only because it is such a ubiquitous force.

Business leaders want to do more than simply store all that data for compliance purposes. They seek to derive value and insight from it for competitive advantage. As a result, rampant data growth and the need for solutions to handle it have provided an impetus for IT innovation.

Would there be Hadoop and MapReduce without the need to analyze data stores too vast and varied for a standard data warehouse? Would NoSQL databases (Key/Value, Graph, Document, and Column) have become a force without the need to organize and exploit unstructured data in myriad forms? Would cloud and software as a service have evolved without the pressure to scale elastically, deploy quickly, and provide anywhere, anytime access to information?

Yet, as new technologies have emerged, proven data management approaches have also held their ground. NoSQL and NewSQL technologies are supplementing, not replacing, relational database management systems. Data integration is becoming more important than ever along with business intelligence solutions that can handle both structured and unstructured data. Companies that have based their businesses on tried and true MultiValue technology (sometimes referred to as the fifth NoSQL database) continue to do so while also integrating their data with relational data stores. And what value would any of this information hold without solutions to cleanse and deduplicate it, and the ability to keep it secure from outside hackers and internal privileged users?

Against this swirling backdrop, the staff of DBTA set out to create a list of 100 companies that matter in data. DBTA decided to focus strictly on companies that provide a product or service related to data management. Some of the companies have been around longer than any of us can remember. They provide technologies and services that have been on the market for many years and do so exceptionally well. Others are new on the scene or have game-changing approaches that are not yet widely embraced.

Here, and on the following web pages is the DBTA list of 100 companies that matter most in data. We encourage you to learn more about why these vendors were selected by visiting their websites. In addition, DBTA View From the Top articles from sponsors provide special messages from executives themselves on what makes their companies unique.

The list of companies included can be found here.

Mark Pick Discusses the Launch of Pick Cloud, January 23, 2013 via Database Trends and Applications (DBTA)

MARK PICK DISCUSSES THE LAUNCH OF PICK CLOUD

MultiValue technology veteran Mark Pick recently launched a new company, Pick Cloud, Inc. Here, Pick - whose name is synonymous with MultiValue thanks to his father Dick Pick, who is widely credited as a founding father of MultiValue software - discusses the reasons he embarked on the new venture and his goals for the company.  “A lot of people worry about latency issues in moving to the cloud, but of all the applications that exist out there, a traditional Pick application is very thin, very low bandwidth so that wasn’t going to be an issue,” notes Pick. “And, when we go down the list of things that we can provide for our customers, number-one, it is fast and easy to deploy.”

Why did you start Pick Cloud?

Pick: I was working with customers and realized that the new servers were very powerful yet so under-utilized that customers were probably using about 10% of the actual horsepower of the server.  They were not taking advantage of the horsepower that they paid for.  I realized that it was possible to virtualize servers and start to divvy up the equipment – but there were not a lot of people doing that in our space. The more I researched it, the more I saw it was very prevalent in cloud computing with a lot of hosting companies and this is what they were doing. We polled the user community, and we reached probably 5,000 MultiValue clients in our survey to see if they were interested and 75% of the people that responded said they would consider a cloud initiative over the next 18 months.

What is unique about your approach?

Pick: We are offer a fully managed data center that manages the complete environment from soup to nuts. I wanted to provide a worry-free environment, where there are no more headaches, no upgrading servers, no disk outages or concerns about power so customers can go back to what they do best. However, I knew early on that I didn’t have that expertise so it was paramount to partner up with a proper hosting company. I have partnered with The Zayo Group, which has data centers all across the country so we can provide full disaster recovery.

Is there a customer segment you are targeting and what are the benefits?

Pick: There is no specific profile, but I found that it fits small and medium customers well. One of the big benefits that we talk about is the value of the service being an operating expense versus a capital expense, and instead of them paying 10,000 or 30,000 for a server, we can set them up for as little as $400 a month. In addition, a lot of people worry about latency issues in moving to the cloud, but of all the applications that exist out there, a traditional Pick application is very thin, very low bandwidth so that wasn’t going to be an issue. And, when we go down the list of things that we can provide for our customers, number-one, it is fast and easy to deploy. We offer 24x7 availability, uptime is 99.999%, and we take care of all their backups. And lastly is the energy savings for heating and cooling.

What has been the reaction so far and what is ahead?

Pick: We have had some early wins, and also had just a tremendous amount of feedback and a lot of questions. Our market is mature and cloud has never really come up.  People are gun-shy because it is new technology to the MultiValue community. What I am all about is continuing to rejuvenate the MultiValue community and helping customers preserve their Pick applications. Taking them to the cloud obviously can do that going forward. In addition, our goal is to eventually expand to provide database as a service for the MultiValue community.
